Freetown Law Courts Get New Borehole

The Main Law Courts Building in Freetown has received a newly constructed borehole, ending years of water shortages that severely impacted sanitation and daily operations.

Chief Justice Komba Kamanda commissioned the facility on 3 November 2026. He noted that restoring a reliable water supply restores basic dignity for judicial staff, legal practitioners, and court visitors.

The project was funded by Leone Rock Metal Group through its Corporate Social Responsibility program. Head of Legal and Risk Management Svetlana Goujon, Esq., stated the initiative aims to improve public well-being and comfort within the justice system.

Chief Justice Kamanda welcomed the support while emphasizing that corporate contributions would not compromise the Judiciary's constitutional independence. He expressed hope that similar infrastructure support will extend to other courts across Freetown.
