Freetown Man Remanded Over Garrison Street Wounding Incident

A 23-year-old Freetown resident, Habib Kargbo, was remanded to the correctional facility on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, following his appearance at Pademba Road Court No. 1.
Kargbo faces three charges related to a violent incident that occurred on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at #18 Garrison Street in the Western Area of Freetown. He is accused of wounding Alhaji Bangura with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, as well as separate counts of wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, all under the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.
Presiding Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah heard the case, during which Prosecutor Inspector Kadie M. Taylor confirmed that the defendant had been served with the relevant case and inquiry files. As the matter is a committal proceeding, no plea was entered by the defendant.
Magistrate Jah denied bail, ordering that Kargbo remain in custody. The case has been adjourned until July 8, 2026, for further proceedings.
