Freetown Painter Remanded Over Residential Burglary

Alhaji John Bill, a local painter, has been remanded to the Male Correctional Facility following his appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2. Bill faces charges of housebreaking and larceny under the Larceny Act of 1916.

The prosecution alleges that on July 12, 2026, Bill broke into the home of Meshoe Jalloh in the Mountain Rural District with the intent to steal.

The stolen items, valued at 10,900 Leones, reportedly included twenty cartons of tiles and a power bank.

As the case is a committal proceeding, the defendant was not required to enter a plea at this stage.

Prosecutor DPC 18235 Kebbie K. Thoronka confirmed that all case files have been served to the defendant, who has indicated he will cross-examine prosecution witnesses.

Bail was denied, and the matter has been adjourned to August 4, 2026, while Bill remains in custody.
