Fullah Union Supports Widows with Ramadan Donations in Kenema

The Fullah Progressive Union in Kenema District has provided Ramadan relief items to Fullah widows, underscoring its dedication to supporting vulnerable community members during the holy month.
The distribution event, held on Sunday, 1st March 2026, on Main Street in Kenema, was spearheaded by the Union’s Chairman, Alhaji Hardy Jalloh, and his executive team. This initiative was specifically designed to alleviate the financial pressures faced by bereaved women in providing for their households during Ramadan.
During his address, Chairman Alhaji Hardy Jalloh reiterated the Union’s commitment to fostering unity, compassion, and corporate social responsibility within the Fullah community. He emphasized that Ramadan serves as a critical time for reflection, generosity, and providing for the less privileged, affirming that support for widows is a key priority for the Union.
"This outreach is an integral part of our duty to stand in solidarity with our widows and ensure they feel supported, particularly during this sacred period. We are committed to collaborative efforts to uplift and empower every member of our community," he stated.
The donation ceremony saw the participation of numerous key stakeholders, including the Regional Fullah Tribal Head East, leaders from the Youth and Women's Wings of the Union, Zonal Chiefs, the Fullah Town Chief, Imams, the beneficiaries themselves, and members of the press.
The distributed provisions included a substantial quantity of staple goods: 100 bags of 50kg rice, 20 bags of 25kg rice, along with supplies of salt and sugar. Recipients conveyed their profound gratitude to the Fullah Progressive Union, acknowledging that the timely donations would significantly ease their financial burdens during Ramadan.
