Ghana Arrests Three Suspects Linked to ‘Bolle Jos’ Drug Network
Ghanaian authorities have arrested three suspects allegedly linked to Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as “Bolle Jos,” whose transnational drug network and reported presence in Sierra Leone have drawn major international scrutiny.
The arrests were confirmed on Monday, September 14, 2026, by Ghana’s Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC). According to official statements, the suspects are believed to have represented Leijdekkers and actively facilitated his syndicate's logistics and operational footprint within Ghana.
NACOC officials revealed that the targeted operation followed actionable intelligence regarding a major cocaine shipment recently intercepted by French customs, which investigators traced directly to Leijdekkers’ broader trafficking operations.
The three individuals remain in NACOC custody and are currently undergoing interrogation as investigators work to map out the full extent of their local infrastructure and financial connections.
Leijdekkers, ranked among Europe’s most wanted drug traffickers, has been the subject of intensive international law enforcement tracking across West Africa. While previous intelligence reports placed his primary base of operations in Sierra Leone, these new developments confirm a wider regional presence.
“These arrests demonstrate Ghana’s unwavering commitment to ensuring our territory is neither a safe haven, a transit hub, nor an operational base for organized international crime,” NACOC said in a press statement.
The Commission emphasized its ongoing collaboration with foreign partner agencies to dismantle the financial and logistical pipelines supporting illegal drug trafficking, adding that all legal protections and due process will be extended to the suspects as formal charges are prepared.
