Government of Sierra Leone Announce Town Hall Meeting to Address Kush

The government of Sierra Leone, through the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has announced plans to engage stakeholders in a town hall meeting to address the growing drug epidemic.

According to Mr. Bah, the meeting will include all relevant agencies and civil servants to devise strategies to combat substance abuse, particularly the substance known as Kush.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Bintumani, replacing the usual press briefing.

In a related development, Minister Bah confirmed the arrest of Abu Bakarr Boxx-Konteh, a prominent member of the All People's Congress, in Guinea.

Boxx-Konteh has been extradited to Sierra Leone to face charges related to his alleged involvement in the Kush trade as a trafficker.

Minister Bah also stated that Boxx-Konteh is suspected of involvement in the November 26th attempted coup and had been hiding in Guinea, seeking to escape to Senegal.
