Hearing for Cybercrime Case Involving 61-Year-Old Defendant

Ayo Johnson, 61, faces a charge of cyberbullying for allegedly publishing threatening posts on Facebook. The defendant failed to appear in court when the matter was called before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at Pademba Road Court No. 8 in Freetown on Monday, November 3, 2025.

The charge is formally brought under Section 44(1)(b) of the Cyber Security and Cyber Crime Act No. 7 of 2021.

Court records indicate that the offence allegedly occurred on Friday, July 26, 2024, in Freetown. The defendant is accused of using a Facebook account registered as "Ayo Johnson" to create and disseminate bullying messages.

These social media posts were reportedly intended to intimidate Jonathan Thomas Beah of #4 Community Road, Allen, and were deemed likely to cause him harm, including physical injury.

Following the defendant's absence, Magistrate Samura ordered an adjournment, rescheduling the hearing for November 5, 2025.
