High Court Trial Set for Accused in Kelly Kamara Murder Case

The case concerning the alleged murder of Kelly Kamara has been formally committed to the High Court for trial following a ruling by Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura of Pademba Road Court No. 8.


The accused, 38-year-old accountant and engineer Mohamed Jabity and 24-year-old Samuel Mossima, will face charges of Conspiracy to Commit Murder and Murder, contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act and the Death Penalty Act 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).


The prosecution alleges that on Sunday, 21st September 2025, the accused conspired with unknown individuals to beat Kelly Kamara to death at Engine, Kaingo, Lumley in Freetown.


During the committal proceedings, both accused entered guilty pleas after the charges were read and explained. The matter will now proceed to the High Court for a full trial.


The prosecution team was led by ASP Ibrahim, assisted by P. T. Koroma and Juliana Jusu. The defense was represented by D. Kaindeh, P. Koroma, M. Massaquoi, and A. Samba.


The defense indicated its intention to file an application, which led to a brief adjournment. Prosecutors also noted that they had requested a two-week notice from key witness Moses Ferenkeh, who was initially absent but subsequently appeared in court.


With the Magistrate's ruling, the accused are now committed to the High Court to stand trial for the alleged murder of Kelly Kamara.
