Recognized for her roles as Deputy Chief Whip 1, President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliamentary Female Caucus, and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Trade Committee, the Honorable Sesay underscored her dedication to advocating for enhanced female representation within the ECOWAS Parliament.
Having served in parliament since 2005, the Honorable Sesay reflected upon her early days in opposition and her subsequent transition to various governmental roles upon her party assuming power. She recounted her pivotal role as one of the five delegates representing Sierra Leone in the ECOWAS Parliament during the fifth parliament and highlighted her recent appointment to lead the delegation in her current term.
A significant accomplishment during her tenure as President of the Female Caucus was the successful endeavor to raise female representation from 12% to 30% in the parliament, with 28% of the seats now held by women and 2% by Paramount Chiefs.
Beyond her parliamentary responsibilities, the Honorable Sesay continues to make an impact on education, having established secondary schools in communities and presently spearheading projects to construct additional educational facilities, underscoring her commitment to empowering future generations.
