Husband Testifies How Neighbor Attacked Wife with Matta Pestle

During a hearing at Pademba Road Court No. 2, the prosecution presented detailed testimony implicating 43-year-old Bilkisul Kallon in an alleged act of violence.

The witness, Hassan Koroma, a motor mechanic and husband of the complainant, recounted the events that led to injuries sustained by his wife, Isata Mansaray.

Koroma testified that on October 2, 2025, he returned home from work to find his wife absent. His mother-in-law informed him she had gone to visit a friend. Later that evening, she returned and reported that Kallon, her neighbor and daughter of their landlord, had uprooted her crops.

Koroma said he advised his wife to avoid the defendant. They subsequently reported the matter to the defendant’s cousin, known as Teacher, during which Kallon began hurling insults at the complainant.

According to Koroma, Kallon then emerged carrying a mortar pestle. His wife tried to remove it, prompting a scuffle. Another witness, Kadiatu, intervened, but Kallon struck the complainant on the head with the pestle, causing a wound. Koroma pursued Kallon, who allegedly struck him on the back before fleeing.

Both Koroma and his wife received medical attention at Akon Police Station, and statements were recorded by police.

During cross-examination, defense counsel A.E.M. Lukullay requested an adjournment to question the witness further. Magistrate John Manso Fornah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the charges, and remanded Kallon to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.

The case has been adjourned to November 5, 2025, for further proceedings.
