"I Was Never Offered $100,000 or SUV, But I Would Have Accepted" - APC MP Tamemkor

APC Parliamentarian Hon. Alhaji Sorieba Turay, popularly known as “Tamemkor,” says he was never offered the alleged $100,000 and an SUV to influence his position during the Constitutional Amendment Bill vote, but acknowledged that he would have accepted the offer if it had been made.

Speaking on Probe Media, Turay responded to allegations that some APC lawmakers were offered money and vehicles ahead of the parliamentary vote.

He said no one approached him to “sell out” and that he was not personally presented with any such offer. However, Turay said he would have taken the reported money and vehicle had they been offered to him.

“If I see 100 thousand dollar and SUV, I would just walk out and sit,” he said, adding, “Opportunity, grab it.”

His comments come amid allegations that some APC lawmakers were offered financial incentives, reportedly including $100,000 and an SUV, in connection with the Constitutional Amendment Bill.

Turay did not claim to have received any money or vehicle and did not identify anyone alleged to have made such offers to other lawmakers.

His remarks have added to public debate over the parliamentary vote and allegations of financial inducements. The reported offer remains an allegation, while Turay’s position is that no one approached him and that he would have accepted the alleged offer if it had been made.
