ICPNC Outlines Five-Year Peace Strategy as Bio Receives Reports

President Julius Maada Bio has received the 2025 Annual Report and 2026–2030 Strategic Plan of the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC), reaffirming the importance of dialogue, reconciliation, and unity in Sierra Leone’s development.

The documents were presented at State House, Freetown, by ICPNC Executive Secretary Madam Hawa Samai and Board representatives. Samai highlighted the Commission’s work in promoting mediation, conflict prevention, and trust-building over the past five years.

She said ICPNC interventions have strengthened public confidence through dialogue, including support to the National Unity Agreement, while noting Sierra Leone’s continued eligibility for support from the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund as recognition of its peacebuilding efforts.

Receiving the reports, President Bio commended the Commission for its role in promoting peace and national cohesion, describing its work as critical to national development.

He said the establishment of ICPNC fulfilled a key recommendation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Report and reaffirmed his government’s support for efforts to strengthen dialogue, reconciliation, and peaceful conflict resolution across the country.
