The judicial proceedings against Fatmata Mansaray, indicted for child abduction in connection with the disappearance of a toddler, are currently advancing toward a High Court hearing.

As the litigation progresses, Ms. Mansaray has maintained silence regarding the location of the missing child, exacerbating concerns regarding the minor's welfare and the ultimate resolution of the case.

Ms. Mansaray is presently appearing before Magistrate Julia Gbloh at Pademba Road Court No. 5 in Freetown. Following her arrest on February 21, 2026, she was formally charged under Section 56 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.

The indictment pertains to the alleged abduction of a twenty-one-month-old male in Kroo Bay on February 9, 2026. The prosecution contends that the child was removed from his residence without parental authorization.

Upon the formal reading of the charges, the defendant declined to enter a plea. Prosecuting Sergeant Frances Lamin advised the court that the matter remains in the Preliminary Investigation phase, requiring further witness testimony prior to committal to the High Court of Sierra Leone.

Evidence presented during the hearing indicates that Ms. Mansaray has consistently refused to provide information concerning the child's current whereabouts.

Magistrate Gbloh underscored the gravity of the allegations and expressed significant concern over the ongoing lack of transparency regarding the child's safety and location.

The proceedings have been adjourned until March 24, 2026, for committal hearings. This phase will determine if sufficient evidence exists to transfer the matter to the High Court for trial.

The court further noted that the defense has a seven-day window to conclude its current submissions before the formal transfer process is initiated.

As the legal process continues, both the local community and the victim's family remain focused on the proceedings, seeking accountability and the safe recovery of the child.
