Sierra Leone honors the distinguished life and public service of Joseph Samba Keifala, affectionately known as "JS Keifala," who has passed away. 


A cornerstone of national governance and sports administration, Keifala’s legacy is defined by his profound dedication to community development and the advancement of Sierra Leonean football. 


He most notably served as the Mayor of Kenema, where his leadership in local governance earned him widespread respect as a tireless advocate for his constituents.


In the sporting arena, Keifala was a towering figure within the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). Rising from Vice President to Acting President, he steered the association through critical historical periods, leaving an indelible mark on the structural progress of the sport. 


His dual commitment to the pitch and the halls of government exemplified a life of total public service.


 Keifala is survived by his two wives and children. As the nation mourns, the Keifala family has announced that funeral arrangements are currently being finalized. Further details regarding memorial services will be shared in due course, as the community prepares to pay final respects to this exemplary leader.
