The Magistrate Court in Kenema has heard two separate criminal matters involving allegations of domestic violence and theft, as part of ongoing efforts to address social and criminal offences within the city.
In the first matter, Juldeh Jalloh was arraigned before the Principal Magistrate, His Worship Magistrate Hadiru Daboh, on a charge of domestic violence contrary to Section 2(1) of the Domestic Violence Act No. 20 of 2007.
Prosecuting the case, Woman Police Constable PC 13576 Sillah Fatmata told the court that on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at No. 3 Lambaya Avenue in Kenema City, the accused intentionally induced fear and emotionally abused his mother, Massah Farma, with whom he has a domestic relationship. The prosecution alleged that the accused’s actions caused the complainant to feel constantly unhappy.
The accused was informed of the charge, and the matter was adjourned for trial.
In a separate development before the same court, Alie Mohamed was arraigned on a charge of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916. Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa informed the court that on Tuesday, December 18, 2025, at Belgium’s Ground along Combema Road in Kenema City, the accused stole twenty-five pairs of assorted creps valued at Eight Thousand, Eight Hundred and Fifty New Leones (NLe 8,850), property of one Ishaka Musa.
Alie Mohamed, described as a first-time offender, pleaded guilty to the offence and appealed to the court for forgiveness. After considering the plea, Magistrate Daboh sentenced him to two years’ imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre in Kenema or, in the alternative, to pay the value of the stolen items to the complainant.
The cases highlight the Magistrate Court’s continued handling of both domestic-related offences and property crimes in
