The judiciary of sierra Leone has announced that Honourable Justice Mohamed Momoh Jah-Stevens of the Court of Appeal has been placed on administrative leave with immediate effect. This action follows media reports that according to the judiciary, could potentially harm its reputation.

In a statement, the Judiciary confirmed that the Chief Justice of the Republic of Sierra Leone has directed that Justice Jah-Stevens be sent on administrative leave immediately. Additionally, the Judge has been referred to the Judicial and Legal Service Commission (JLSC) for further consideration and any actions the commission deems appropriate.

The Judiciary emphasized that this measure is in line with its commitment to uphold integrity and maintain public confidence in the justice system.

No further details on the allegations or the duration of the administrative leave were disclosed.

This development comes after Justice Stevens dragged his alleged 21-year-old law student girlfriend to court, where she was charged with domestic violence against Appeals Court Judge Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens. Last year, the same young woman had publicly accused the judge of impregnating and abandoning her.

Reports indicate that the case, brought before Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon at Pademba Road Court No. 3, includes three counts of physical abuse and intimidation allegedly committed on August 27, 2025, at Kowa Drive in Regent, Freetown. The charges are filed under Section 2(1) of the Domestic Violence Act of 2007.

According to the prosecution, the alleged acts occurred within the context of a domestic relationship between the complainant, Jamiru, and Justice Stevens, with the judge now seeking legal redress. When the matter was called in court, Jamiru was absent. Prosecutor Inspector Mohamed Kamara applied for a bench warrant for her arrest, which Magistrate Kallon granted.
