Justice Served: Two Sentenced for Larceny and Domestic Violence in Kenema

Francis Saidu Foday, a resident of 17 Abu Road in Kenema, has been sentenced to twenty-four (24) months imprisonment by Her Worship, Magistrate Wilbri Hamida. M. John of Magistrate Court No. 2 in Kenema, following a conviction for Larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The defendant, Francis Saidu Foday, on November 3, 2025, at No. 4 Kenkeh Street in Kenema, stole one Tecno Spark 5 Android Mobile phone valued at One Thousand Five Hundred New Leones (NLe 1,500.00), Fifty United States Dollars equivalent to One Thousand, One Hundred and Eighty-Five New Leones (NLe 1,185.00), and a cash sum of Three Thousand New Leones (NLe 3,000.00), totaling Five Thousand, Six Hundred and Eighty-Five New Leones (NLe 5,685.00), all property of Jitta Mamiko Senesie.
Furthermore, on the aforementioned date and location, Francis Saidu Foday stole one Infinix Smart 8 Android Mobile phone valued at One Thousand, Five Hundred New Leones, the property of Idrisa Kamara. Foday pleaded guilty to both counts and was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment, to be served at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema.
In a separate matter, Mahmoud Sheriff was found guilty by Magistrate Hamida. M. John for the offence of Domestic Violence, contrary to Section 2 subsection 1 of the Domestic Violence Act No. 20 of 2007.
On November 7, 2025, at Geekorhun Village, Lower Bambara Chiefdom in the Kenema Judicial District, the defendant intentionally induced fear in Aminata Sheriff, a person in a domestic relationship with him as his mother, by threatening to kill her. Sheriff pleaded guilty and offered a plea for forgiveness. He was subsequently sentenced to nine (9) months imprisonment.
The matters were prosecuted by Police Inspector, Aiah Mafinda Teh and PC 13492 Tonya Musa, both attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department in Kenema.
