Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, a politician from Sierra Leone currently residing in the United States, has strongly criticized a recent judgment by the Sierra Leonean High Court. The court awarded NLe 250,000 in damages to Kobi Walker in a defamation case.
Mansaray, who is subject to a permanent injunction as part of the ruling, described the decision as an unlawful breach of both national and international justice principles. He claimed that he was not served with a summons, was unaware of the proceedings, and was not represented in court.
He issued these statements in an official release published on his official channels, disseminated this afternoon and late evening, in response to a recent ruling involving him and Kobi Walker. This ruling pertains to audios distributed by Kamarainba, which contained certain accusations.
He highlighted that the judgment did not mention his U.S. residential address and that there was no effort by the court or the plaintiff to serve him in accordance with Sierra Leonean law, the principle of natural justice, or international due process standards.
He underscored the legal principle that a judgment should not have been rendered against him without providing an opportunity for him to present his case.
Additionally, Mansaray made serious allegations against the Sierra Leonean judiciary, accusing it of being influenced by corrupt politicians and business figures.
In conclusion, Mansaray stated that the judgment contravenes the Constitution, African and ECOWAS law, and basic principles of humanity.
