Kamboi Eagles Secure Late Victory Over Diamond Stars in Premier League Encounter

Kamboi Eagles FC secured a vital 2–1 victory over Diamond Stars FC in an entertaining Leone Rock Premier League encounter at the Kenema Playing Field on Sunday, 24th May 2026, strengthening their push for a strong finish to the season.

The result lifts Kamboi Eagles to eighth position on the league table with 38 points, overtaking Diamond Stars FC, who drop to 17th place with 27 points following the closely contested defeat.

Diamond Stars FC made a fast start to the match and took the lead in the 25th minute when Fornah Abubakarr converted a penalty to give the visitors an early advantage and silence the home crowd.

However, Kamboi Eagles responded quickly and restored parity in the 27th minute through Joseph Cole, who struck from inside the 18-yard box to reignite hopes of a comeback.

The match remained tightly contested, with both sides creating chances in an open second half. Kamboi Eagles eventually sealed the victory in stoppage time when Mohamed Barrie converted a penalty in the 90+5th minute.

Despite late pressure from Diamond Stars FC in search of an equaliser, the Eagles’ defence remained disciplined and resilient to secure all three points.

The match was briefly disrupted after Assistant Referee 2, Edward Musa, was allegedly struck by an object thrown from the stands. He was later replaced by fourth official Kennie Jabbeth as play resumed.

The result marks an important boost for Kamboi Eagles FC as the battle for higher positions in the Leone Rock Premier League continues to intensify.
