Kandeh Yumkella: Key 2028 Contender Against APC

Sierra Leonean social commentator Zainab Sheriff has posited that the only viable presidential candidate from the current political structure capable of mounting a serious challenge to the All People’s Congress (APC) in the 2028 elections is Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella.

During an online media interview, Sheriff asserted,

“No one from this government should be talking about the presidency except Kandeh Yumkella. He is the only person who can give the APC a run for their money.”

Sheriff underscored Yumkella's extensive background in governance and development, citing his prior role as a presidential aspirant and the leader of the National Grand Coalition (NGC) as strong indicators of his credibility to contest the APC.

Political observers note that Yumkella retains significant popularity among voters seeking an alternative to the incumbent administration. His considerable public service and international engagement record have further solidified his reputation as a formidable prospective contender.

While endorsing Yumkella as the principal challenger, Sheriff also briefly advocated for enhanced female representation in the nation's highest office, arguing that Sierra Leone thrives when its leadership reflects the country's diversity and acknowledges the vital contributions of its women.
