Kenema Court Sentences Man for Motorcycle Theft, Remands 10 Others

Magistrate Court No. 2 in Kenema has sentenced Momoh Forwai to two years’ imprisonment for larceny after he pleaded guilty to stealing a motorcycle.
The sentence was handed down by Magistrate George B. Samai after Forwai was arraigned on one count of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the charge read in court by Emmanuel Cooper, Registrar of Magistrate Court No. 2 in Kenema, Forwai, on June 9, 2026, at Fallah-Wahun Section, Kamara Town, on the outskirts of Kenema City, stole as a bailee a red TVS HLX 125 motorcycle with registration number AYM 727, valued at NLe 3,900, belonging to Alhaji Soko.
Forwai pleaded guilty to the charge and appealed to the court for mercy. Magistrate Samai subsequently sentenced him to two years in prison at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema.
The case was prosecuted by PC 19204 Swaray Andrew Amara.
In a separate matter, Magistrate Samai ordered ten defendants to be remanded at the SLCC in Kenema after they pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful gathering.
The defendants were identified as Moiwo Korjie, Abubakarr Mustapha, Mustapha Kamara, Lansana Dauda, Lansana Kennie, Abdul Turay, Jusu Moigua, Ibrahim Abdulai, Saidu Kamara and Sheku Mustapha.
According to the charge read by Registrar Emmanuel Cooper, the ten defendants were found unlawfully assembled without authority on August 13, 2026, at Talama Village, Lower Bambara Chiefdom, within the Kenema Judicial District in Sierra Leone’s Eastern Province.
Following their guilty pleas, Magistrate Samai ordered that the defendants, now convicts, be remanded in custody at the SLCC in Kenema pending their record and sentence.
The matter was adjourned to August 24, 2026, for record and sentence.
The case was prosecuted by PC 13536 Moseray Sylvester Alfred.
