Kenema DHMT Marks 100-Day Milestone in ‘Triple Zero’ Health Campaign(Old Photo)

The Kenema District Health Management Team (DHMT) recently held a stakeholder meeting at the Dr. Grant DHMT Conference Hall to review the progress of its “300 Days Triple Zero” community mobilization and sensitization campaign. The initiative, which aims to achieve zero preventable maternal deaths, zero preventable child deaths, and zero-dose (unvaccinated) children, has reached its one-third mark.

District Medical Officer Dr. Donald S. Grant reported notable advancements in routine immunization, maternal and child healthcare, and public awareness efforts driven by closer collaboration with local communities and development partners.

To support these goals and improve healthcare logistics, the Ministry of Health has distributed 32 motorbikes to Peripheral Health Units (PHUs) across the district. These vehicles are expected to strengthen disease surveillance, expand outreach services, and improve emergency response times, particularly for residents in remote, hard-to-reach areas.

In addition to expanding access, stakeholders have taken steps to strengthen public health policy by revising district health by-laws to specifically address the growing challenge of drug abuse.

As the campaign enters its final 200 days, participants have reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining the momentum. 

Officials emphasized that continued collaboration between government institutions, traditional leaders, development partners, and the media remains critical to meeting the campaign’s objectives of securing a healthier future for children and mothers in the Kenema District.
