Kenema Pastor Faces Allegations of Extramarital Affair

A marriage dispute has emerged in Mende Koyagbayma Layout, Kenema, following allegations by a husband that Pastor Nathenel Lahai Brima, a teacher at Wisdom Academy Secondary School, was involved in an extramarital relationship with his wife, contributing to the breakdown of their marriage.
According to the husband and other sources interviewed by this publication, Pastor Brima allegedly encouraged the woman to attend his church before their relationship reportedly developed into a romantic affair. The allegations have not been independently verified.
The husband alleged that Pastor Brima would visit his matrimonial home whenever he travelled into town for business. He said he later discovered text messages on his wife’s phone which, according to him, contained intimate conversations between the two.
He also alleged that his wife secretly used his money to purchase an electricity meter for the pastor’s residence in Koyagbayma, as well as a mobile phone, mattress and other household items. He said these discoveries, alongside changes in his wife’s behaviour, prompted him to confront the situation.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the dispute was subsequently brought before local chief Gbao and respected community elders for intervention. Some individuals who reportedly attended the meeting claimed that Pastor Brima admitted to having a relationship with the woman and appealed for forgiveness. They also alleged that the woman acknowledged her involvement and admitted using her husband’s money to purchase items for the pastor. These accounts have not been independently verified by this publication.
The husband said he rejected requests from members of his wife’s family to reconcile, maintaining that he was unwilling to continue the marriage. Community leaders reportedly intervened to prevent further conflict, while members of the woman’s family later reached what was described as a compromise over the matter.
When contacted by telephone, Mr Abu Vandi, identified as the proprietor of Wisdom Academy Secondary School, confirmed that the matter had been compromised and settled.
However, the husband alleged that Pastor Brima continued to provoke him through remarks suggesting that he would face no consequences over the matter.
When contacted by telephone for his response to the allegations, Pastor Nathenel Lahai Brima declined to comment, stating: “I have nothing to deal with you.”
The dispute has generated discussion within the community about personal responsibility, professional conduct and the expectations placed on religious leaders.
This publication remains open to publishing any further response from Pastor Brima or other parties mentioned in this report.
