In a significant effort to strengthen professionalism and rebuild public confidence in law enforcement, the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Kenema Division has formally launched its Integrity Management Committee (IMC). This proactive body is mandated to foster ethical conduct and preemptively address misconduct within the police force.

The initiative, led by the Local Unit Commander (LUC), Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Bob Musa Naslic Mansaray, unites officers from various units under a collective commitment to uphold the core values of integrity, accountability, and exemplary service.

During the welcoming address, Sub-Inspector (SI) Brima James Musa clarified that the IMC is designed to complement, not supplant, the functions of the Complaints, Discipline, and Internal Investigations Department (CDIID). Its primary role is that of a forward-looking mechanism focused on early intervention and behavioral guidance, identifying and resolving potential issues before they escalate into formal complaints.

CSP Mansaray, in his keynote address, commended the IMC's formation as a timely and strategic response to increasing concerns regarding police professionalism. He stated that the committee is expected to be instrumental in curbing excesses and misconduct, thereby elevating the overall standard of service delivery within the Kenema Division.

"The IMC is more than a mere committee; it is a moral compass for our officers, a structure established to restore dignity, ensure accountability, and safeguard the trust our community places in us," CSP Mansaray asserted.

He further charged the committee members to operate with unimpeachable integrity, emphasizing that their conduct will define the standards for their peers. He assured them of his unwavering support, highlighting the critical nature of their work in cultivating a new culture of responsibility and transparency.

The session concluded with constructive discussions, suggestions, and recommendations aimed at securing the committee's long-term viability and operational effectiveness. The proceedings were marked by a shared sense of commitment and optimism as the IMC commenced its mission to advance policing standards in Kenema.
