Three labourers appeared before a Freetown court on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, facing multiple charges stemming from a violent incident in Koya Town. The charges include wounding, assault, malicious damage, and illegal possession of offensive weapons.

The accused—Abass Sesay, 30; Abdulai Sesay, 19; and Foday Kamara, 17, all identified as labourers—were brought before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2. They face five counts: Wounding, Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm, Malicious Damage, Throwing Missiles, and Carrying Offensive Weapons Without Lawful Authority or Reasonable Excuse, under sections 6 and 16(1) of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965.

Court particulars allege that on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Koya Town, Wellington, in the Western Area of Freetown, the defendants maliciously wounded Abdul Fattah Kamara and assaulted him, causing actual bodily harm.

Furthermore, the defendants are accused of maliciously damaging property belonging to Mr. Kamara, including a Toyota Camry (registration number AQF 181), specifically the front and back windshields (valued at Le 3,500 each), and seven zinc sheets, with the total damage estimated at Le 10,750. They also face charges of throwing missiles at Kamara’s compound and possessing offensive weapons without lawful justification.

The defendants did not enter a plea, as the matter is before the court for a preliminary investigation. Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh is leading the prosecution.

Witness Abdul Fattah Kamara, a worker at Water Quay, identified all three defendants and testified that the incident occurred on October 13, 2025, while he was at home. He stated that the defendants, along with others not in court, arrived at his residence armed with sticks and weapons.

Specifically, he identified the first defendant as carrying a koboko (whip) and the second and third defendants as carrying cutlasses.

Mr. Kamara further testified that the second and third defendants restrained him, and the third defendant sprayed pepper water into his eyes, incapacitating him. During the confrontation, all three defendants allegedly physically assaulted him.

Following the testimony, the prosecution requested an adjournment. Defence counsel, A.B. Marrah, applied for bail for the accused. However, Magistrate Fornah denied the bail application and remanded the defendants to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The case has been adjourned until October 27, 2025.
