The Regional Commander of Freetown East, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Brima Kanneh, conducted a formal inspection and groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday at the Owen Street Police Post land, located along the Hill Side Bye-Pass Road in the east end of Freetown.
The initiative aims to safeguard the property from illegal encroachment and advance development of the strategic police site.
The event marked a major step in efforts to secure and develop the strategic police site. During his visit, AIG Kanneh officially turned the sod, signaling the commencement of the construction of a perimeter fence around the police land.
After receiving a briefing from the local Commanding Officer, AIG Kanneh expressed appreciation to officers and personnel for their steadfast commitment to protecting the land from encroachment. He reaffirmed that the property would be developed for its intended policing purposes and called on the public and stakeholders to support the initiative in the interest of community safety.
“This land belongs to the Sierra Leone Police, and it will be developed to serve the needs of the force and the community,” he emphasized. “I urge everyone to respect the vision and work together to see it through.”
The ceremony concluded with the symbolic sod-turning by AIG Kanneh, officially marking the start of the construction phase of the perimeter fence.
