Knife Logged as Exhibit in Theft Case

A police crime writer has testified in court that he logged a kitchen knife into evidence during the investigation of an alleged generator theft.

Sergeant 14125 Abdulai Momoh Kassim of the Mountain Division told the court that DPC 14084 Mary Bashiru handed him the brown-handled knife for registration on September 9, 2026 and noted that the item was logged under serial number 40/2026 and has remained in police custody since.

It was produced and tendered in court as part of the proceedings.

The testimony forms part of the ongoing committal proceedings against 23-year-old mason Alie Kargbo who faces charges of conspiracy and larceny under Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

Prosecutors allege that on September 3, 2026, Kargbo conspired with unidentified accomplices on College Road in Leicester Village, Mountain Rural District. He stands accused of stealing a yellow-and-black 3.5 KVA Thoprimo generator, valued at Le60,000, belonging to Ellen Mathew.

No plea was entered during the hearing, which is being prosecuted by Inspector Theresa Ballay.

Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 denied bail due to the severity of the charges and remanded Kargbo to the male correctional center in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to October 27, 2026.
