On Monday, November 17, 2025, the Sewafe Police Station, Motema Division, in Kono District, successfully launched an Anti-Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) outreach campaign in Nimiyama Chiefdom.
Led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Mohamed Turay, Local Unit Commander, Motema Division, the initiative was a collaborative effort with school administrators and community stakeholders.
The campaign, which began in 2024 and continues to engage key stakeholders, focuses on raising community awareness about issues critically impacting vulnerable populations, specifically women and children. Key focus areas include SGBV, domestic violence, the prohibition of early/child marriage, and addressing drug misuse and abuse.
The primary objective is to cultivate a culture of respect and protection of human and children's rights. The police are dedicated to sustained community engagement to enhance reporting and response mechanisms for SGBV cases and to provide essential support to victims and survivors.
The initiative was spearheaded by Police Constable Mohamed Allieu Jalloh, In Charge of the Family Support Unit.
