The Sierra Leone National Team, the Leone Stars, has arrived safely in Baku to participate in the upcoming FIFA 2026 Series international friendly matches.

Led by SLFA First Vice President Alie Badara Tarawallie, the initial delegation departed Sierra Leone with seven home-based players and the technical staff. The squad was subsequently bolstered in Istanbul by several foreign-based professionals, including Juma Bah, Sulaiman Kaikai, Daniel Kanu, Idris Kanu, Kamil Conteh, Yayah Kallon, and John T. Kamara, prior to the final leg of the journey.

Following their arrival at Heydar Aliyev International Airport on Monday evening, the traveling contingent joined several players already in camp, namely Alhassan Koroma, Abdul Jarju Kabia, Alpha Turay, Samuel Ghandi, and Mamadou Jalloh.

The Leone Stars are scheduled to compete against the Azerbaijan National Team in an international friendly on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Mehdi Huseynzade Stadium. This fixture was confirmed following the withdrawal of Oman and logistical constraints involving Saint Lucia.

Official preparations are set to commence on March 24. Head Coach Mohamed Kallon will oversee the training sessions as the team refines its tactical strategies in anticipation of the upcoming match.
