A 22-year-old unemployed man, Sinneh Dumbuya, has been remanded in custody following detailed police testimony in an alleged larceny case before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown.
Dumbuya appeared in court to answer to allegations of stealing properties valued at Le 4,300. The proceedings centered on the circumstances leading to his arrest and the evidence gathered by the police.
Testifying before the court, Police Inspector John Mumunah Simpeh Kamara, attached to the New England Ville Police Station, stated that he recognized the accused and recounted how he was apprehended. According to the inspector, on January 20, 2026, Dumbuya was arrested by Raymond S. Bangura while on night duty following reports that he had been caught stealing from No. 2 Rock Lane, Brookfields, Freetown.
The items allegedly stolen include one cooking pot, two large bowls, and two iron window frames.
Inspector Kamara told the court that statements obtained from the complainant and other witnesses were tendered and admitted as Exhibits A1–2 and B1–3. He further disclosed that on January 25, 2026, an immediate caution statement was recorded from the accused in Krio, translated into English, and endorsed with Dumbuya’s right thumbprint after he confirmed its accuracy.
When the charge was read and explained in court, no plea was entered. The accused, who was not represented by legal counsel, declined to cross-examine the prosecution witness.
Following the testimony, Magistrate Fornah ordered that Dumbuya be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility. The matter was adjourned to March 9, 2026, for further proceedings.
