Man Sentenced To Five Years For Stealing US$6,800

Abdul Rahman Kargbo, 34, has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to stealing US$6,800 belonging to Catherine Hawa Kekura.

Kargbo was sentenced by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 and committed to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.

The offence was committed on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Mamah Lane, Sorie Town, Gloucester Village, in the Mountain Rural District of Freetown.

According to the particulars of the case, Kargbo stole US$6,800 belonging to Kekura. The matter was subsequently brought before the court, where the charge was read and explained to the accused.

Kargbo pleaded guilty to the charge.

The prosecution was led by Inspector Kadie M. Taylor, who presented the facts of the case before the court. The court also heard that Kargbo had no previous criminal record.

In his ruling, Magistrate Jah considered the facts presented before the court, the accused’s guilty plea and his plea for mercy before imposing the five-year prison sentence.

Kargbo was subsequently sent to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown to serve his sentence.

The case highlights the continued prosecution of property-related offences before the courts as authorities seek to uphold the rule of law and protect citizens’ property.
