US$10,700 Vehicle Deal Lands Two Men in Court

Mohamed Musa, 64, and Yankuba Koroma, 27, have been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown following their first appearance in court on charges of conspiracy to defraud and obtaining money by false pretences.

The defendants are accused of conspiring to defraud Mohamed Koroma by falsely claiming that they had a white AME-Coupe vehicle for sale in Conakry, Guinea, knowing the information to be false. The alleged conspiracy took place between March 4 and April 16, 2026, in Freetown’s Western Area.

Count Two alleges that Musa and Koroma, with intent to defraud, obtained US$10,700 from Mohamed Koroma by falsely pretending to have the vehicle for sale in Conakry, Guinea, while knowing the claim to be false.

When the charges were read to them, neither defendant entered a plea, as the matter is of a committal nature. Prosecutor Sergeant Florence Wilson confirmed that she had served the defendants with copies of the police case file, which they acknowledged receiving.

Magistrate John Manso Fornah declined to grant bail, citing the seriousness of the charges.

The case has been adjourned to September 3, 2026, for further proceedings.
