Mansaray Mobilises Kenema Communities Ahead of National Census

Mr. Vandason Vandi Mansaray has engaged residents of Gombu, RTI, Tissor, and Yakima communities in Kenema District, encouraging them to actively participate in Sierra Leone’s forthcoming Population and Housing Census.
During the engagement, Mansaray emphasised the importance of public cooperation in ensuring that every individual and household is accurately counted, noting that the success of the exercise depends on citizens’ willingness to participate and provide the necessary information.
Luwama Bockarie, District Statistician for Kenema District, also highlighted the importance of reliable population data for national development, effective planning, equitable resource allocation, and evidence-based decision-making.
Community members were educated on their responsibilities during the census, including cooperating with authorised census officials and providing accurate information. Residents were urged to take the exercise seriously, as reliable population data will help the government and development partners identify community needs, formulate appropriate policies, and improve the delivery of essential public services.
The engagement forms part of efforts to strengthen public awareness and community mobilisation ahead of the census, ensuring that every individual and household is accounted for and that the resulting data support development planning and decision-making across Sierra Leone.
