The trial of Isata Bindi, charged with the alleged manslaughter of her husband, has been postponed in the Freetown court due to the prosecution's failure to present witnesses. Ms. Bindi was formally charged on Friday, July 19, 2025, at Pademba Road Court No. 1. However, the proceedings could not advance as key witnesses were absent.
Ms. Bindi is charged with manslaughter for allegedly stabbing her husband, Mustapha Bangura, during a domestic dispute on May 13, 2025, on Aberdeen Road. During the court session, Prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Mansaray requested an adjournment, citing the absence of witnesses and noting that he had only recently received the case file.
The court granted the adjournment, rescheduling the proceedings to July 21, 2025, to allow time for securing witnesses. Ms. Bindi did not enter a plea, as the case remains in its preliminary stages pending witness testimony.
The case file reveals that Ms. Bindi and the deceased were married with two children and originated from the same district in Bo. Documentation also indicates a history of ongoing disputes between the couple, which reportedly led to the fatal incident.
Nonetheless, the absence of witnesses has hindered further court proceedings.
