Match Coordinator Injured as Violence Erupts in FA Cup Quarter-Final Clash in Freetown

A violent incident disrupted the Sierra Leone FA Cup quarter-final match between Star Sports Academy and EE Lions, leaving Match Coordinator Victoria Kamara reportedly injured and seen bleeding during the chaos at the SLFA Academy in Kingtom, Freetown.


The unrest is said to have broken out in the 86th minute of the match after the referee turned down a penalty appeal from Star Sports Academy. The decision reportedly sparked tensions on the touchline and among officials and supporters.


According to reports, Star Sports Academy officials were the first to enter the pitch following the disputed decision, an action that quickly escalated into a confrontation involving players, officials, and supporters from both sides. The situation degenerated into a wider fight, disrupting the closing stages of the match.


At the time of the incident, EE Lions were leading 2–1.


During the melee, Match Coordinator Victoria Kamara was reportedly injured and seen bleeding, though the extent of her injuries has not yet been officially confirmed.


As of press time, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has not released an official statement regarding the incident or any disciplinary measures to be taken following the disturbance.
