Mighty Blackpool FC returned to winning form with a commanding 2-0 victory over Abacha City in the Leone Rock Premier League on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the SLFA Academy.
The important victory ended a disappointing run of dropped points for the Tiss Tass Boys at a crucial stage of the season, while boosting their hopes of finishing strongly in the league campaign.
Mighty Blackpool began the match brightly and quickly imposed themselves on the contest. Their early pressure paid off in the 13th minute when a dangerous delivery into the penalty area forced Abacha City defender Delvin David into an own goal, handing Blackpool the lead.
Following the opener, Blackpool maintained control of possession and dictated the tempo of the game. Their midfield operated with intensity, pressing high and preventing Abacha City from building attacks comfortably from the back. Defensively, the side remained organized and compact, limiting opportunities for counter-attacks.
The victory was eventually sealed in the second half through a brilliant strike from Francis. After collecting the ball just inside the Abacha City half, the midfielder unleashed a stunning long-range effort that dipped beyond the goalkeeper and into the net to make it 2-0.
Despite efforts from Abacha City to respond in the closing stages, Mighty Blackpool’s defense stood firm throughout the encounter. The backline remained disciplined, while the goalkeeper was rarely called into serious action as the team comfortably secured a clean sheet.
The result lifts Mighty Blackpool back into the upper half of the league table and provides renewed momentum ahead of the final stretch of fixtures in the ongoing campaign.
With both the title race and relegation battle becoming increasingly competitive, the Tiss Tass Boys will now shift focus to their next assignment as they continue pushing for a strong finish to the season.
