Mighty Blackpool Takes Legal Fight International Over Alleged Premier League Injustice

Sierra Leonean football giants Mighty Blackpool F.C. have fired a powerful shot in their battle against what they describe as "gross injustice" from the Sierra Leone Premier League Board Chairman, announcing the engagement of a high-profile international sports lawyer. 

The move signals a dramatic escalation in a dispute that has left the club reeling from an unexpected relegation.

After months of mounting frustration and perceived procedural irregularities, Blackpool has opted for expert legal counsel to navigate the intricate channels of football governance. 

The club's objective is clear: to ensure justice prevails under the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Disciplinary Code and to uphold the integrity of the Premier League itself.

In a candid statement, Mighty Blackpool emphasized their commitment to fairness, asserting, "We are fighting a just cause to protect the integrity of the Premier League and ensure fair play in football. Our goal is to prevent individuals and groups from violating statutes, rules, and regulations with impunity." 

They urged all stakeholders to recognize that their actions are squarely in the long-term interests of Sierra Leonean football.

At the heart of this acrimonious dispute lies a ruling from August 21, 2025, by the Premier League Board's Emergency Disciplinary and Protest Committee. 

This committee had sided with Blackpool's protest regarding the ineligibility of Diamond Stars F.C. players Ishmael Jalloh and Ibrahim Sourie. 

The ruling unequivocally awarded three points and two goals to Blackpool, while simultaneously deducting the same from Diamond Stars—a decision mirroring a previous sanction against Diamond Stars for similar violations back on May 11, 2025.

Despite the ruling's posting on the Premier League Forum on August 23, Blackpool alleges a stunning failure by the Premier League Board Chairman to implement the decision. 

This alleged oversight became glaringly apparent on August 24, 2025, when the final league table was published, inaccurately depicting Mighty Blackpool as relegated for the 2024/25 season. 

This has, understandably, ignited widespread fury among the club's faithful.

Blackpool claims to have pursued every available avenue for redress, seeking intervention from a litany of authorities including the SLFA Competitions Committee, the Sierra Leone Football Association Executive Committee, the National Sports Authority, and even the Ministry of Sports. 

Yet, the club asserts that these appeals have been met with silence, leaving the crucial issue unresolved.

In a defiant closing statement, Blackpool executives rallied their fans, declaring that "justice is priceless and must never be compromised." 

They underscored their moral imperative to combat injustice, invoking the powerful sentiment: "Injustice to anyone is injustice to everyone, and injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere."
