Ministry of Internal Affairs Engages Stakeholders in Kenema on Strategic Development Planning

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, led by the Honorable Minister, Retired Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Morie Lengor Esq., convened a critical one-day stakeholder consultation in Kenema on Monday, August 25, 2025.


The meeting aimed to gather crucial input for the Ministry’s Strategic Development Plan (SDP) for 2026–2030.




The highly interactive session brought together key representatives from institutions operating under the Ministry, including the Sierra Leone Police, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, the Sierra Leone Correctional Service, the National Fire Force, and the Immigration Department.


This gathering was part of a nationwide consultative process designed to shape the Ministry’s future strategic framework.





In his keynote address, Minister Lengor articulated the Ministry’s ambitious vision to establish Sierra Leone as one of the safest nations globally.


He underscored that achieving this objective necessitates a concerted and unified effort from all stakeholders.


The Minister emphasized that the SDP serves as a vital policy-making tool, providing direction for every ministry, and stressed that the ongoing consultations are designed to solicit broad-based perspectives and feedback on the proposed plan for 2026–2030.




Minister Lengor also expressed profound gratitude to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for its unwavering support and partnership, describing the organization as a crucial ally in realizing the Ministry’s strategic objectives.


Other distinguished speakers, including the representative of the Paramount Chief and the Chief Administrative Officer of the Kenema City Council, offered valuable regional insights and highlighted the significance of local ownership in national security and development planning.




The successful meeting concluded with a group photograph and refreshments for all participants, marking a day of meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
