Two Drown Attempting Escape During Police Drug Raid

Two individuals reportedly drowned on Tuesday morning while attempting to escape a police drug raid at the Orugu Bridge, a known convergence point for drug dealing and consumption.
According to police at Jui, intelligence reports indicated that drug dealers were actively using the area beneath the Orugu Bridge. The Operation Support Division of the Sierra Leone Police at Jui initiated an operation to access the location.
As officers approached, the drug dealers reportedly spotted them from a distance and attempted to flee by swimming across the waterway. While some individuals successfully swam to safety, two ultimately drowned.
One person was reportedly rescued during the incident and later received medical treatment, with the cost covered by the Police.
The bodies of the two deceased are currently at the morgue.
