The Sierra Leonean football community recently observed a day of profound sadness as Mogbwemo Queens Football Club, the reigning Women’s Premier League champions, offered a final farewell to their esteemed Vice Chairman, Mr. Mustapha Brima Kanneh.
Mr. Kanneh was laid to rest following a ceremony attended by family, club officials, players, and key sporting stakeholders. The gathering honored a leader whose instrumental dedication was vital to the club’s ascent. As Vice Chairman, Mr. Kanneh was a foundational pillar, guiding the team from Rutile to consecutive national titles and ensuring their proud representation in the WAFU Zone A Qualifiers.
More than an administrator, he was widely regarded as a mentor and father figure, known for his calm demeanor and unwavering commitment to the welfare and professional development of female athletes. His leadership elevated the standards of club management and inspired a new generation of footballers.
The Mogbwemo Queens squad paid their respects by forming a poignant guard of honor. The club’s executive management acknowledged the immense void left by his passing, committing to carry forward his legacy of excellence and empowerment.
