Francis Ben Kaifala, Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), has said the Commission has recovered seven times more assets since he assumed office than were recovered in the previous eighteen years.
Speaking on AYV’s Wake Up Sierra Leone programme, Ben Kaifala highlighted the ACC’s performance in both asset recoveries and prosecutions, noting that recoveries under his tenure have far exceeded historical records.
“In 2025, we achieved a 100 per cent conviction rate,” he said, attributing the success to the Commission’s data-driven approach to investigations and prosecutions.
The ACC Commissioner further disclosed that the Commission has returned over 75 billion old Leones to the Consolidated Fund. He said the Auditor General’s Office is responsible for auditing any expenditure from the fund and addressing any issues that may arise.
“I believe that all of the monies we have handed over to the state have been directed to good use,” he added.
Ben Kaifala’s remarks provide insight into the ACC’s recent operations and underscore the Commission’s continued focus on recovering misappropriated public funds, as well as the importance of oversight and accountability in ensuring that recovered resources are properly reinvested into the national budget.
