Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL) has officially awarded a prize of NLe 30,000 to Abdul Bilal Mohamed Koroma, the successful winner of the 2026 Census Logo Competition.

The presentation of the cheque was conducted on 16 January 2026 at the Stats SL Headquarters located at 1B King Street, Kona Lodge, Freetown. This initiative underscores Stats SL’s commitment to fostering public engagement and increasing national awareness in preparation for the upcoming 2026 Population and Housing Census.

Mr. Koroma's winning design, selected from submissions received nationwide, will serve as the official logo for the forthcoming national census. The design is intended to embody the principles of inclusivity, national identity, and the critical role of accurate data collection for effective national planning and development in Sierra Leone.

During the ceremony, Stats SL officials emphasised the profound significance of the competition, highlighting how such initiatives motivate citizens, particularly the youth, to participate actively in national projects and contribute their creativity to public sector endeavours.

The award presented to Mr. Koroma further demonstrates Stats SL’s dedication to acknowledging and nurturing talent and promoting innovation within the country. By involving the general public in the logo design process, the agency seeks to cultivate a collective sense of ownership and connection to the 2026 Census.

The prize presentation marks a crucial step in the preparatory activities for the national census, reaffirming the agency's focus on inclusivity, stakeholder engagement, and awareness-building as the nation prepares for this vital national undertaking.
