MOIC Clarifies Per Diem Structure for Ministers on Provincial Assignments

The Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education, Bockarie Abdel-Aziz Bawoh, has clarified the financial support provided to government ministers when attending official duties in the provinces, stating that they receive a per diem of NLe 1,000.

Speaking on Rise Radio 96.3FM, Bawoh explained that the government does not provide additional financial allowances for ministers attending town halls or other official engagements outside Freetown.

“We are not providing any additional support for government ministers attending town halls or other official duties in the provinces; only a per diem of NLe 1,000 is given to them,” he said.

He noted that the allowance is intended to cover basic expenses such as accommodation, feeding, and other personal needs while on official assignment outside the capital.

Bawoh added that limited logistical support, including fuel, is also provided by the relevant ministry to facilitate official travel.

He emphasized that the arrangement applies uniformly to all ministers undertaking official duties in the provinces, stressing that the support package is strictly limited to the stated provisions.

The clarification comes amid ongoing public discussions about government expenditure and logistical arrangements for official engagements outside Freetown.
