Motorbike riders in Kenema and Freetown protest against the hike in fuel prices



Commercial Motorbike riders in Kenema and Freetown have taken to the streets to protest against the recent hike in the prices of fuel. The increment of Nle5 on all petroleum products including Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene and fuel oil was made on Tuesday 29th August 2023, bringing the price to Nle30.


On Wednesday 30th August, a protest commenced on the streets of Kenema, by bikers expressing grievance of cost and implications to their transport trade.


These riders had made their way around the main streets and into town until late evening.


Today 31st August 2023, a similar protest commenced at Jui, Freetown, with echoing grievances. This protest was dispersed by the police.
