New Infrastructure Boost: Kenema Bridges Commissioned to Enhance Connectivity

Hon. Mathew Sahr Nyuma, Leader of Government Business in Parliament, recently joined the Road Maintenance Fund Administration (RMFA) to officially commission two major bridges in Combema, Kenema. This project replaces outdated, hazardous crossing points with modern infrastructure designed to improve safety and regional access.
According to Hon. Nyuma, these bridges represent the initial phase of a comprehensive road development package for the area. Future plans for the route include road paving, the construction of improved drainage systems, and the installation of solar street lights leading to the Combema roundabout.
Residents of the Combema community have praised the initiative, noting that the new bridges serve as vital lifelines for students, farmers, and the general public. By providing reliable connections to previously isolated neighborhoods, the project ensures seamless travel, particularly during the rainy season when prior routes were prone to flooding.
The project was executed by the contractor SIMBARU, whom Hon. Nyuma commended them for their resilience and commitment to completing the work despite significant public demand for the new access.
The official commissioning ceremony was attended by various stakeholders, including RMFA CEO Mohamed Kallon, former Deputy Internal Affairs Minister Moriba S. Koroma, and local government officials from the city and district councils.
