New Leader of the National Motor Drivers Union: Ibrahim Sam Elected President

Ibrahim Sam has been elected as the new president of the National Motor Drivers Union following a run-off election between him and Abdulai Bah. Both candidates had initially received sixty-eight votes each in the first round, which included a third candidate.

The election, overseen peacefully by outgoing president Alpha Bah, underscores the union's commitment to democratic principles.

Sam’s victory, emerging from a runoff against Abdulia Bah, signifies the drivers' trust in his leadership to champion their interests.

Sam's presidency is expected to maintain the stability fostered by his predecessor while addressing the daily challenges faced by commercial drivers. Under his guidance, the union will intensify its efforts to protect members' rights, advocating for fair working conditions, equitable wages, and safeguards against exploitation.

A key focus will be the union's engagement with government policymakers, ensuring that new regulations are practical, beneficial, and do not hinder drivers' livelihoods.

Sam’s call for unity among all drivers, transcending election divisions, highlights his vision for a robust and cohesive union. This collective strength is crucial for advancing the commercial drivers' agenda, ensuring their voices are heard, and their economic contributions are recognized.

The union's continued advocacy will be vital for the welfare of its members and the broader commercial transportation sector, promising either a steady continuation of past efforts or a dynamic shift towards new opportunities.
