Nine-Month-Old Baby Found Dead in Bowl of Water at Home in Blama

A nine-month-old baby boy, Mohamed Sandi Koroma, has died after being found in a bowl of water at his home at No. 65 Boujibu Road, Blama, on Friday, October 3, 2025.

Police said the infant was discovered at about 5:40 p.m. and rushed to the Blama Health Centre, where a medical examination was requested to determine the cause of death.

According to police sources, the child’s mother, Saarah Koroma, had gone to the Blama town trade fair, leaving him in the care of a yet-to-be-identified caretaker. Preliminary reports suggest the baby may have crawled into the parlour and submerged his head in a water-filled bowl, leading to his death after struggling without rescue.

Police said the caretaker’s identity has not yet been disclosed, and investigations will continue once a medical certificate is issued. Authorities have meanwhile urged parents and guardians to ensure closer supervision of children to prevent similar tragedies.
