NLe 50,000 Disbursed to Resolve Nyapui School Land Dispute
Resident Minister for the Eastern Region, Hon. Gbessay Jusu Jakka Ngobeh, fulfilled a NLe 50,000 pledge to the landowning family of the Nyapui School of Excellence on Saturday, September 5th, during a gathering at the Combema Community Barry.
The NLe 50,000 financial support aims to ease longstanding differences over the property where the school is situated, fostering peace and unity among family members.
The event drew key stakeholders, including officials from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), civil society activists, local journalists, representatives from SEND Sierra Leone, and members of the community. Attendees welcomed the gesture as a critical step toward reconciliation and stronger local ties.
Speaking at the event, Minister Ngobeh noted that the donation fulfilled a joint pledge made alongside Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad Sackey, who was unable to attend.
He emphasized that the contribution reflects a commitment to the school’s positive impact rather than financial excess, highlighting that local leadership must take initiative rather than relying solely on the central government for community development.
Management at the Nyapui School of Excellence expressed gratitude to all supporters advancing the institution’s mission to transform girls’ education, particularly in science and academic excellence.
As the school prepares for the upcoming 2026/2027 academic year, administrators called on parents, community leaders, and the broader public to support the institution and enroll young women, reinforcing the school’s long-term commitment to empowering girls across Sierra Leone and beyond.
