Sylvester Musa, a 40-year-old nurse, was remanded to prison on Friday, June 20, 2025, following allegations of theft and fraudulent conversion of hospital supplies at Pujehun Government Hospital.
Nurse Musa made his initial court appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at Pademba Road Court No. 8, facing two serious charges. He is accused of larceny by servant, in violation of Section 17(i) of the Larceny Act of 1916, and fraudulent conversion of property, in violation of Section 20(iv)(a) of the same Act.
The charges allege that on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Pujehun Government Hospital in the Pujehun Judicial District, Southern Province, Freetown, Musa stole seventy-six cartons and thirty-three boxes of assorted free healthcare medical supplies from his position as storekeeper. It is further alleged that these supplies, entrusted to him for safekeeping, were fraudulently converted for his personal benefit. Upon the reading of the charges, Musa did not enter a plea.
Prosecutor Inspector Aminata Korio requested a short adjournment to present her first witness. Notably, the accused was unrepresented by legal counsel. Magistrate Samura refused bail due to the gravity of the offense and remanded Musa to the male correctional facility in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned to June 23, 2025.
