Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown has remanded motorbike rider Paul Koroma on a charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20 (1) (iv) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
Prosecutors allege that Koroma fraudulently converted a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle valued at 12,000 Leones. The complainant, Nelson Bundu Bangura, testified that on August 17, 2025, Koroma approached him at his residence in Sumaila Town, claiming to have secured a motorbike for commercial riding on behalf of his neighbor, Mr. John.
Bangura said he handed over the motorcycle, registered AUR 560, with an agreement for Koroma to pay 130 Leones daily. However, weeks passed without repayment or the return of the bike.
The complainant later discovered that Koroma had failed to account for the motorcycle. After Koroma was apprehended by Bangura’s brother, he could not give a satisfactory explanation, prompting a police report at New England Police Station.
Under cross-examination, the accused did not contest the facts but insisted he was innocent. Magistrate John Manso Fornah denied bail due to the seriousness of the offense and ordered Koroma remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to October 9, 2025.
